When do I need to obtain a Trip Permit?
Who Is Required to Have a Fuel Permit?
If you’re driving a large commercial vehicle and aren’t registered with the IFTA, you’ll most likely need a fuel permit for the states or provinces you’re visiting. More info
What Exactly Is IFTA?
The International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) encompasses 48 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Canadian provinces. When your car is IFTA-registered, you report the distance traveled in each state or province and pay the necessary taxes.
If your car is not IFTA-registered, you will almost certainly require a fuel permit for your trip.
Who is exempt from the requirements of the Fuel Permit and the IFTA?
